About A Step Toward Hope

A Letter From Chris Miles
As I have shared with many friends and colleagues, paralysis has touched my own family. My mother-in-law suffered a horrific accident in 2003, leaving her paralyzed from the neck down. She is no longer able to hold her grandchildren tightly in her arms, or chase them around the backyard. In a few seconds, her life was changed and our family was faced with unimaginable decisions, concerns and obstacles – as only those families touched by paralysis can truly comprehend. Today, although she has accomplished great strides in her recovery, she still faces daily challenges and sacrifices. Her paralysis has changed our family forever, and motivated me to use all of my resources to help raise funds to fuel research and quality of life improvements for those living with paralysis. Thus, A Step Toward Hope was born. The task is great. The goal is high. The results can help millions.
